Betty Louise Gump, age 90, of Metz, WV, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born Feb 7, 1927 at Metz, WV, a daughter of the late David Arthur and Bertha O. Dodd Lemley.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons, Freda (Stephen) Moore of Mannington, Sandra Thomas of Fairmont, Donna (Kent) McMahan of St. James City, FL, Debra Gump (David Evans) of Mannington, Ronald (Donna) Gump, of Vass, NC, and Larry (Bessie) Gump of Metz; a friend, Terry Morgan of Metz; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Hershey L. Gump, on May 27, 1982; 6 brothers, Norman, Glen, Lawrence, Earl, Gerald and Charles Lemley; and a son-in-law, Larry Thomas.
Betty was a member of Women of Moose, Chapter 1054 for 33 years, and was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed bowling, working puzzles and serving on the Election Board at Metz.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St, Mannington, on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 2-9:00pm. The Women of the Moose will have a service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday, July 2 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Coon officiating. Interment will be at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
