Genetta Jewell McVicker Delaney died at Fairmont Regional Medical Center on January 9, 2015 in Fairmont, WV. She was 85. Jewell was born May 13, 1929 in Metz, WV to her parents, Willis and Mary Ellen Lemley McVicker. She married William Arthur Delaney on January 14, 1950.

Jewell was a custodian for Marion County Board of Education working at Metz Elementary, Glover Gap Elementary, Marion County Technical Center and at North Marion High School until her retirement. Jewell lived her entire life in Metz until the death of her husband when she moved to live beside her daughter in Mannington and recently resided at The Arbors in Fairmont.

Jewell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Marshall Smith of Fairmont, her daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Gary Bowers of Mannington, and her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Tina Delaney of Mannington; and grandchildren Brent and Cindy Dunham of Morgantown, Amber and Christopher Hunter of Charleston, Adam and Stacey Bowers of Fairmont and Scott Delaney of Mannington. She has six great-grandchildren, Mason and Ava Dunham, Paxton and baby girl Hunter (due any day), Annabelle Bowers and Colton Delaney. She is also survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Patty Delaney of Burton, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Delaney of Colorado, two sisters-in-law, Rosalee Straight and Elva Delaney, both of Mannington and a brother-in-law, Charles Delaney of Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, William in 2010; her sister, Roma Wells; and her brothers, Ross, Harold, Wilford, and Jack.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff members at The Arbors in Fairmont for their mother’s superior care and making the last few months of her life such a pleasant one.

Family and Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 2-8:00 pm and also on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 9-11:00 am with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Greg Roth.
