Harry Dale Higgins, age 72 of Rachel, WV, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born March 24, 1945 in Wetzel County, WV, a son of the late Birchie Hale Higgins and Mary Elizabeth Hibbs Higgins. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Louise Dotson Higgins of Rachel, with whom he was married to for 54 years and married on December 19, 1963. He is also survived by 2 sons, Ronald Dale (Tracey) Higgins of Rachel, and Larry Dean Higgins of Brink (Rymer); three daughters, Sharon (Tim) Stout of Rachel, Sandra (Stacy) Thompson of Fairmont, and Krystal Higgins and Earl Spangler of Walkerville, MD; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Everett Higgins and Charlotte Dye of Rachel; two sisters, Wanda and Glen Jones of Farmington and Donna and Jeff Rice of Pine Grove; one brother-in-law, Charles Carnes of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by one son, David Lee Higgins who died on May 16, 1998; one brother, Albert Higgins; one sister, Helen Carnes; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Higgins. Harry was employed by Eastern Association Coal in Rachel for 17 years. He worked at Federal #2 until his retirement. He was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and enjoyed traveling with Jessie. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St Mannington on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A graveside service will follow at the Viewpoint Cemetery  at Rachel, with Rev. David Markley officiating.   On-line condolences may be left for the family at www.mastersfuneralhomewv.com

Harry was one of the best neighbors we ever had, and would always offer to help a neighbor who needed it.

One less good old boys bites the dust. I worked with Harry for lots of years, He was a hell of a worker. We had some good times a Fed. #2. I sure will miss Harry and all his jokes and stories. God bless you Harry and God be with your family.
