Janice Core

Janice Lavonne Core, 76 of Hundred, WV, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014. She was born November 18, 1937 in Garrison, PA, daughter of the late Audra Six and Ada Estel Six.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Core, with whom she married on July 27, 1965 with 49 years of marriage. She is also survived by 2 nieces, Linda and Donna Sue. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Phillips, a brother, John Six, and a niece, Micky Phillips.

Janice moved to Hundred, WV at a young age and lived in the same house all her life. She was a graduate of Fairmont State College and received her Masters Degree from West Virginia University. She taught school at Hundred Grade School, and also served as principal and teacher at Littleton and Jakes Run grade schools.

Janice and her husband Jim started 2 businesses, Discount Center and Core Oil in Burton, WV, operating them for 47 years. She prided herself as an early riser and a hard worker.

Family and Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10-11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11 with Reverend Ruby Elizabeth Carson officiating.
