Mary Jo Bragg, age 89 of Mannington, WV, passed away after a massive heart attack on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Tygart Center in Fairmont. She was born May 24, 1928 at Mannington, WV, a daughter of the late Wayne Michael and Blanche Shaffer Michael.
She is survived by two daughters, Debra Vankirk of Fairmont and Lesa and Tim Moore of Mannington; 2 granddaughters, Tracy Moore and Rachel Moore; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William “Bill” Bragg who died in 1975; a son-in-law, Ronald Lee Vankirk; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Lee and Ada Michael.
Mary Jo retired with over 40 years from the Mannington Public Service District in accounts. She also had worked at Applied Technologies in Fairmont, as well as a Telephone Operator after High School and helped with transitioning to dial telephones. She graduated from Mannington High School in 1946. She was a member of the Llewyln Baptist Church where she helped with Bible School. She loved flower gardening. She leaves behind extended family that was like children and grandchildren to her. She lived within a couple miles of her birthplace her whole life.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St Mannington on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 2-4:00pm and 6-8:00pm. Funeral services with take place on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 beginning at 11:00am in the funeral home with Pastor Larry Watson officiating. Interment will be at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
