Wilma Lorraine Starkey Wilson, age 76, of Mannington, WV passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Fairmont Regional Medical Center after a courageous hard fought battle with cancer to be with the Lord. She was born August 22, 1939 at Wileyville, WV a daughter of the late Wilbert Francis Starkey and Pansy Mae Shuman Starkey.

She is survived by a daughter, Elisha Hitt Anderson and husband Jennings Dale of Mannington, and a son, Timothy Coberly of St. Leo, WV; 2 brothers, Ronnie D. Starkey and wife Kandy of Wheeling, WV, and Wilbert “Steve” Starkey of Rymer, WV; 2 sisters, Rosemary Snodgrass and husband Sam of Rymer, WV, and Kathy M. Dobbs and husband Jay of Waxhaw, NC; 2 grandchildren, Timothy Coberly, Jr. of Mannington and Mazzie Grace George of Mannington; a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Hobson of Rymer; many loving nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Cindy Beaver of Delaware, OH.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Gay Hitt George; an infant grandson, Garrett George; a brother, Drexil “Bud” Starkey; a sister, Connie Hobson; and one niece, Leah Law.

Wilma was a retired nurse and a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Clarksburg. She worked at Wishing Well Nursing Home. She was member of the Rymer United Methodist Church and attended Sunday night services frequently at Llewellyn Baptist Church, where she was always uplifted and inspired by Pastor Clifton Light’s messages. She was an accomplished pianist and song writer and received great joy in praising the Lord. She was blessed with a kind gentle spirit and willing to help those in need.

The family would like to express special Thanks to the nurses, staff and caregivers for the kindness and patience.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 2-8pm and also on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 11am-1pm with funeral services beginning at 1pm with Pastor Harry Holbert officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Domestic Violence (Hope), AA, or the Teachers Association.
