Albert Michael Dougherty, age 77 of Mannington, WV passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 at his residence. He was born July 4, 1945 in Craig, Missouri, a son of the late Albert Christian Dougherty and Edna Mae Hughes Dougherty Brandt.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sharon Joyce Atha Dougherty, his 5 children, Ricki-Linn (Kurtis) Helgeson of Mannington, Stephanie Dougherty of Shinnston, Michelle (Robbie) Burton of Mannington, and Michael Dougherty and Amanda Hammons of Beckley, WV, a former daughter-in-law Lisa Dougherty of Barrackville, seven grandchildren, Christian (Jessica) Helgeson, Autumn (Jamie) Sherry, Hayden Dougherty, Wilder Dougherty, Mercedes (Donnie) Honsaker, Joyceann Davis, and Owen Davis, 5 great-grandchildren, Carter Dougherty, Blake Helgeson, Landon Campbell, Finley Helgeson and Caynon Sherry, one sister Pat (Bob) Kumsher of Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Beulah McCabe, Hobert Graham, Irene Pearson, Darlene Gath, Marvin Graham, and Marjorie Rusow.

Albert was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Consolidated Natural Gas in Mannington and at Hastings retiring with 29 years of service. He enjoyed all sports and was a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. He enjoyed movies, horses, hunting, reading his Bible and loved his family, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no funeral home visitation or services as cremation was Albert’s choice of final disposition. A Celebration of Albert’s life will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Llewelyn Baptist Church on Flat Run at 1:00pm with Pastor Larry Watson officiating. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.

I knew Mike only a short time through Jewel City Church. I am saddened for our loss but rejoice that we will see him again. He is such a precious saint of God. I count it a privilege to have met and known him. He is in the arms of Jesus! Love and prayers for all his family.

I am the luckiest girl in the world to have been blessed with the kindest, most supportive in-laws ever known! I am so very grateful for the many years of love, laughter, & wisdom that Mike has graciously given me. You are terribly missed! I love this family so so much, & my heart aches with you now.

Sharon and family, We are so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, Mike is dancing down those streets of gold.
