Alda “Kate” Wells, age 95 of Fairview, WV passed away February 6, 2023 at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born August 10, 1927 in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of the late Arzie and Grace Haught.

She is survived by her two children, Ronald (Norma) Wells of Fairview and Deborah (John) Rende of Fairview, 6 grandchildren, Gretchin Shafer, Heidi Mahaney, Jen Potoczny, Ron Wells, Bill Mathew, and Heather Burns, 8 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Sabatos, Emily Shafer, Madison Mahaney, Joey Mahaney, Owen Mathew, Carson Mathew, Hudson Burns and Brook Burns, one great-great-grandchild, Archer Sabatos, one brother, Andy (Antoinette) Haught of Fairmont, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donzel Wells, 5 brothers, Hayward, George, William, Rex, and Jack Haught, and one sister, Nadine Layman.

Kate was a member of the Washington St. Church of Christ and she loved to sing!

There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience at the family. Kate will be laid to rest at St. Luke’s Cemetery on Jakes Run Rd with Evangelist Peter Ray Cole officiating. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
