Audrey Mae Carpenter, 91 of Mannington, WV passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the home of her daughter. She was born April 28, 1919 at Marion County, WV, a daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Eddy and Lena Leota Martin Eddy.
She is survived by her three children, Lena R. Roberts and her companion Robert Dudash of Katy, James C. Martin and his wife Rosella George Martin of Fairmont, and Terry D. Martin and his wife Shirley of Shinnston; 4 step-children, Mary Rose Lee of Worthington, Jesse Stiles of Ohio, Nancy Davis of North Carolina and James Carpenter of Mannington; 7 grandchildren, Robert Matheny of Korea, Gina Parker of Mannington, J.L. Martin of Mannington, Terri Tufts of Ohio, Jerri Kincaid of Mannington, Tracy Mazzie of Shinnston and Mark Craig of Philippi; several great and great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Audrey was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard C. Martin who died in 1963 and her second husband, Ray Carpenter; one sister, Muriel Higgins; three brothers, Dale, Ottis and Jack Eddy and one great-grandchild.
Audrey was a member of the East High Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting as well as gardening and canning. She cleaned for various people in the area. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
Thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and Hospice who were involved with her care.
Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Wyatt Cemetery.
