Belvia Clovis

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Belvia Mary Stewart Rice Clovis, on Saturday, September 23, 2023. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 6-8:00pm at the Calvary Temple Church on Swisher Hill. A celebration of her remarkable life will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the church beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating with interment following at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton. The family extends their heartfelt invitation to all friends and family to join them in remembering and honoring the extraordinary woman Belvia was.

Born on April 9, 1926 in the quaint town of Mannington, West Virginia, Belvia was the heart and soul of our family. She was the daughter of Gnetta Stottlemire Stewart and Audra James Stewart. Her life was a rich tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unyielding faith. Belvia's motherly love extended to her son, Roger Lee Stewart and his wife Nancy Louise Drake Stewart. She cherished her sister, Shirley Stewart Cole, and held dear the memory of her late sister, Mildred Stewart Capet. She now rests alongside her brother Harold Stewart and her beloved husband Harold Clovis.

Belvia's legacy is carried forward by her three grandsons: Roger Lee Stewart, Shawn Allen Stewart (Stewart Strickland) and Lance Quinton Stewart (Heather Stewart), and her granddaughter Lisa Gale Stewart Fluharty (Jeff Fluharty.) Belvia was a proud great-grandmother to Abigail Linn Stewart, Caleb Quinton Stewart, Austin Chance Stewart, Levi Grayson Fluharty and Corey Dale Fluharty.

Belvia's life was a testament to her kindness, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering faith. We'll fondly remember those moments when, just as we thought she wasn't paying attention, she'd chime in with a witty remark about herself, leaving us in stitches. Her ability to infuse humor into any situation was a remarkable gift she generously shared with us all.

The memorial service will be an opportunity to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman. Please join us in honoring the memory of Belvia Mary Stewart Rice Clovis at the memorial service. Your presence and support during this time are greatly appreciated as we come together to celebrate her life and bid her a fond farewell. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
