Darold Junior Fluharty, age 84, an Army Veteran of the Korea War and longtime resident of Mannington, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at United Hospital Center. He was born June 4, 1935 in Plum Run, WV to the late Kester and Dorotha Evelyn Phillips Fluharty.

Darold worked at Westinghouse/Phillips Lighting facility in Fairmont, WV until his retirement. In 1942, he met the love of his life, Nellie Cunningham. They lived together almost inseparably for over 55 years. They lived in Mannington and together raised one child (Lee Ann), living at their Buffalo Road home for over 50 years.

Darold was a long time member of the Mannington Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved to work with his hands and personally built most of his Mannington home with attention to every detail. He loved and was so proud of his one grandchild Lauren Nicole Calvert. He loved to be with family and was always up for a picnic, reunion or gathering of friends.

Darold is survived by his loving wife Nellie of Fairmont; his daughter, Dr. Lee Ann Calvert and son-in-law Dr. Jimmy Calvert of Moneta, WV; his grandchild, Lauren Calvert of Richmond, VA; and a brother, Melvin Fluharty and sister-in-law Sue Fluharty of Burton, WV.

Family and friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 12-1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Larry Kincell officiating. So very sorry to hear of the passing of Darold. A wonderful man with a great family. Our prayers are with you. We were out of town Sunday afternoon and regret now giving our condolences at the funeral home.
