Deloris Ellen Schrader, age 91 of Mannington, WV went to be with her forever love, her husband Charles, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 after several extended illnesses. She was born October 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Claude Kendall and Bonnie N. Powell Bogard.

She is survived by one daughter Doris Ann (Pedro) Torres of NC, one son Michael (Martha) Schrader of Mannington, seven grandchildren, Pattie (Matt) Haught of NC, Charles Higginbotham of Texas, Carrie Ann (Chad) McDougal of Fairmont, Amie (Craig) Walker of Michigan, John (Melissa) Moffa of SC, Nikki (Jason) Hall of Charleston, WV, and Shelley (Ryan) Kirkpatrick of Boothsville, 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Deloris was preceded in death by her forever love, Charles Lee Schrader whom she married May 16, 1948, one son Charles Randy Schrader, and one daughter, Linda Lea Gross.

Deloris was a member of the Mannington Church of Christ and a homemaker. She was a lover of books and sending cards. If you knew her in a way, you were definitely getting some sort of card and always a Christmas card as it was your first one of the season!

The family would like to give Special Thanks and love to all of the caregivers and help, especially Dave Hughes and Judy Bisett, and her granddaughter Carrie Ann. Also Thanks are extended to WVU Hospice, Dr. Azar, Mary Babcock Cancer Center, and Dr. Tingler.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home at 209 Main, St., Mannington, WV, on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 3-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 in the funeral home beginning at 10:00am with Steve Yoho officiating. Interment will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Doris: So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. We were one of the many people on her Christmas mailing list. Always enjoyed her cards and the enclosed note. Please accept our deepest condolences.

While I didn't know Deloris personally, I remember the many cards she sent to my mom, Elva Barr. They would often write back and forth. And yes, she was always the first Christmas Card that my mom received every year. Prayers for comfort and peace for the family.
