Derick Storm “Stubby” Stevens, age 28 of Mannington, WV died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on July 30, 2023. He was born May 19, 1995 in Fairmont, WV a son of Johnny Paul Stevens of Mannington and Stephanie Toquinto of Oklahoma and step-mother Cari Stevens of Mannington.

He is survived by his two children, Ryan Storm Stevens and Tessa Marie Stevens and their mother Mollie Hopkins, all of Ohio, and his three sisters, Samantha Toquinto and significant other Dustin Cosner of Mt. Storm, WV, Sierra Stevens of Mannington and Brieanna Stevens of Mannington. Stubby is also survived by his grandparents Wanda and Kenny Stevens of Mannington, grandmother Christine Hart of Mannington, his aunt Jennifer White of Mannington, two uncles, Danny (Charlene) Stevens and Chris (Serena) Hart of Bruceton Mills, WV, his great-grandmother Jean Johnson of Bridgeport, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his best friend Tracy Goodrich of Mannington. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Hart.

Stubby worked for 10 years for various companies including Marion County Coal Company in Metz. He was a member of the Charity Baptist Church and he enjoyed traveling. Stubby loved his children very much, enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, hunting and being outdoors with his friends and his best friend, his dog “Dozer”!

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm with funeral services beginning at 12:00pm with Pastor Dan Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at the “Edge of the Woods” / Stevens family Cemetery. Immediately following the graveside service, everyone in attendance is invited for a meal at the Charity Baptist Church in Oakdale.

Such a huge loss for all. Derick was a great person, fun and always making us laugh.. he had a such a great smile.. he was such a great friend. We will miss him dearly!!!!!! My prayers go out to all of his family and friends. Rest easy my friend, we love you and will miss you. Till we see you again much love...

It’s so hard to believe such a caring, loving, honest would is no longer here with us. Derrick you was a big teddy bear. You was always here for anyone and would help a stranger if you could. I knew him for about 7 years....we worked pipeline together. are schedules had us working 70 plus hours with each other and we still would hang out outside of work. let me tell you something.....I used to laugh so hard as a teenager but haven't since...this is the only man that made me laugh so hard my side would hurt and I'd cry. he was so caring and was friendly to a lot of people but had a quick wit to mess with you....my condolences to the family he was a one of a kind man. R.I.P my man.
