Devin Russell

Devin Keith Russell, age 34, of Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly of Mannington, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Raleigh on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Devin was born May 26, 1988 at Fairmont, a son of Roger Keith and Debbie Lynn (Leeson) Russell of Mannington.

Devin was so special to everyone who knew him. Those who knew him would perhaps describe him as a gentle giant. He had a heart of gold and was generous with his time, money, and friendship to those he held close to his heart. The past few days, his family has been regaled with stories of Devin’s life, and those stories all center around his generosity and mischievous spirit. He was a bright light that has been extinguished far too soon; yet this world is undoubtedly a better place for having had his sharp wit, his fierce loyalty, and his infectious laugh.

Devin was born and raised in Mannington, West Virginia. He was a 2006 graduate of North Marion High School. In 2011, he graduated from Fairmont State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Last year, in 2022, Devin graduated from West Virginia University with his Masters in Business Administration. He worked in the healthcare industry as a data analyst. Devin was a sports fan to his core. He was an avid WVU football and basketball fan. He also loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Devin enjoyed reading, music, traveling, and learning about history.

In addition to his parents, Devin is survived by his girlfriend Heather Tedra, his sister and brother-in-law Ashley and Dillon Clark, his niece and nephew, Peyton and Rosie Clark, his grandparents Jim and Donna Leeson, his uncle Jimmie Leeson, his aunt Dawn Madey and her husband Ed, his aunt and uncle Cheryl and Russell King, as well as many special cousins and friends that he has loved since childhood.

Devin was preceded in death by his grandparents Donald and Gay Russell, his aunt and uncle Joyce and Wayne Thorne, and his uncle Donald G. Russell.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 3-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 19, 2023 beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Ethan Starcher officiating. Interment will follow at Viewpoint Cemetery.
