Dorothy M. Wright Cogar, age 85 of Farmington, WV passed away at Pierpont Tygart Center on Monday, July 6, 2020. She was born May 27, 1935 in Katy, WV a daughter of the late Arthur Gay and Daisy Pearl Criss Toothman.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra M. Powell of Metz, WV and Diane (Gary) Masters of Colfax, WV; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer R. Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren, Kevin (Tricia) Masters, Chad (Dawnelle) Powell, Amanda Powell, Kristina (Adam) Weir, Darick Hibbs, and Kandis Estep; 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Frances Toothman of Farmington, Mary Ann Toothman of Mannington, Rella Toothman of Mannington, Peggy Sestito of Fairmont; one brother-in-law, Nate (Neva) Wright of Fayetteville, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. “Butch” Wright who died Feb. 9, 1977 and her second husband, Robert L. “Bob” Cogar who died April 29, 2018; a son, David G. Wright; a granddaughter, Tausha R. Zogel; and her seven siblings, Margorie Hennis, Jimmy Toothman, Max Toothman, Rex Toothman, Danny Toothman, Arlena “Tike” Collins, and Bobby Joe Toothman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Dorothy had worked at various jobs including as the director at the First Senior Citizens Center in Mannington, the Poky Dot, the Fairmont Bowling Center, and had also worked many elections. She was a member of the Teverbaugh United Methodist Church where she attended as a child. She enjoyed participating in Sunday school classes, gardening, reading, going to the Mannington Senior Center, traveling and spending winters in Florida with Bob. She always had a good sense of humor. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of the many camping trips with Grandma!

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 3-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 12:00pm with Pastor Danny Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. As we continue to recognize attending services during the COVID-19 situation may not be in the best interest for some, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. I was very saddened to read of Dorothy,s passing in the paper this morning ! I considered her
a good friend as well as sister-in -law. She was there with me and for me at the time of her
brothers passing. I will always be thankful for her comforting presence and help when I needed it !
