Dorothy Joan Rush, 87, of Bridgeport (formerly of Mannington), passed away on August 24, 2023. She was born September 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Herschel “Bob” Calvin Lough and Ethel Ella Lough (Rice) of Mannington.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip C. Rush (2003), her son Kelly K. Rush (2016), her brothers Robert Lough, Stanley (Helen) Lough, and her sisters Gladys (Grubby) Myers and Roberta Lough. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law James and Mildred Rush, sister-in-law Patricia (Woody) Delbene (and Patricia’s first husband Ronald Toothman), and brother-in-law James (Debbie) Rush Jr.
Joan is survived by her sons Chris (Christina) Rush of Fairmont, Dana Rush of Mannington, and her daughter Alita Haught of Bridgeport, 9 grandchildren, Haley (Dusty) Getz of Fairmont, Lindsy Rush of Morgantown, Zack Rush, Olivia Rush, and Nacoma Barr of Mannington, Braiden Haught (Samantha Mick) of Clarksburg and Gracen Haught of Bridgeport, 2 great-grandchildren Graham and Brooks Getz of Fairmont, 1 sister-in-law Kathy (Chuck) Glover of Mannington, and several nieces and nephews.
Joan graduated from Mannington High School in 1953. She worked over the years at The Five and Dime (Mannington), C&P Telephone Office (Mannington), Mannington Senior Citizens, Mosley and Archibald’s Pharmacy (Mannington), and Red Dot Pharmacy (Mannington) from which she retired in 1996. She was a long-time member of the East High United Methodist Church. She loved her husband, family, and friends, her 2 cats (Ricky and Tanny), taking trips to the mountains and to the ocean. She loved to go fishing with her kids and grandkids.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Humane Society.
Friends and Family will be received at the Masters Funeral Home 209 E Main Street, Mannington WV on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 3-5:00pm with a memorial service beginning at 5pm with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Cremation has been chosen as the final method of disposition.

My heart is broken with and for the Rush family. To Chris, Dana , Alita and the Memory of Kelly and family. So many good memory’s of our children as neighbors growing up together. Joan was a special, loving, caring soul with a great since of humor just loved hearing her laugh. Good memories are our treasures. Hugs, Love and Prayers for comfort at a very difficult time.
