Edgar Ardest McDougal, age 92, of Smithfield, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at his residence. He was born September 1, 1926 in Harrison County, WV, a son of the late Darwood McDougal and Zana Duncan McDougal. He is survived by two children, Randal Keith McDougal of Smithfield, WV and Ronald Dean McDougal of New Martisville, WV; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald McDougal of Wallace, WV; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, Mary Kocher In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by two children, Edgar Eugene McDougal and Robin Lynn Wise; a sister, Twila Hayhurst and a brother, Paul Duncan. Edgar served in the United States Army. He was formerly employed as a timber-coalminer at the Dola Mine in Harrison County. He enjoyed fishing, doing mechanical work and playing guitar. He was kind and gentle and loved doing things and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 4-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00pm., with Pastor LeRoy Haught officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Marion County Veterans Council in the parking lot of the funeral home at the conclusion of the service.
