Edgar Leo LeMasters Jr., age 74 formerly of Grafton Rd., Morgantown, WV went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2024 after a long illness. He was born in Mannington, WV on July 4, 1949, a son to the late Edgar Leo and Elma Lambert LeMasters.
At the age of 17, Edgar worked beside his father in the coal mines and then went on to the Peace Corps where he repelled from helicopters and fought fires in Oregon. He then found his calling at West Virginia University where he worked as a maintenance worker for 50 years receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from Gov. Jim Justice and the State of West Virginia along with Recognition of 50 Years of Service from WVU. Edgar loved his family and was an animal lover and enjoyed old trucks and cars.
In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Leona Morrison LeMasters, a brother Donnie LeMasters, and two sisters, Dora and Paulette LeMasters formerly of Farmington. Edgar is survived by his son Lester LeMasters of Rivesville.
The family would like to Thank the staff at Genesis Pierpont Center in Fairmont for their excellent care over the past 6 years and their friends at Masters for always taking great care of their family’s needs.
There will be no funeral home services as cremation was chosen as the final method of disposition. Graveside inurnment will take place at a later date. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
