Edna Kay Gump, age 81 of Campbell’s Run, Metz, WV passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at Morgantown Health Care Center. She was born December 27, 1941 at Altoona, PA a daughter of the late Kenneth Rodgers and Mildred Swope.
She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Donna and Charles Turner of Core, WV, Janet and David Carpenter Sr. of Fairmont, Karen and James Wheeler Sr. of Metz, Kenneth Gump Sr. and companion Cindy Cross of Metz, Wilbur and Theresa Gump of Metz, and Keith Gump and companion of Ohio. Edna is also survived by 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband Victor Meryl Gump who died August 24, 2016, an infant son Ronald Eugene Gump, a brother Ray Swope and sister Janet Swope.
Edna was a Methodist by Faith who in her younger years enjoyed gardening, canning and making sauerkraut in crock jar. She also enjoyed crocheting, watching her soap operas and springtime with the hummingbirds. Above all else, she loved her grandkids very much and spending time with her family at get-togethers and gatherings.
The family would like to Thank Morgantown Health Care Center, especially the nurse’s aides on the “A” wing, as well as Amedysis Hospice who took such wonderful care of their mother.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Saturday, Sept 2, 2023 from 2-6:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 6:00pm with Pastor Edward Carpenter Jr. officiating. Cremation has been chosen as the final method disposition. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help offset costs.
