Edward Sine

Edward Chesney Sine, 88 of Mannington, WV went to be with the Lord Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. He was born at Mannington, WV on July 16, 1923 a son of the late Charles Edward and Lucy Pearl Allen Sine.
 
He is survived by two daughters, Dalene and Skip Horner of Mannington, WV and Eva and William Yoho of Mannington; six grandchildren, Brittany Cross and husband Tim, of Fairmont, WV , Bridget Horner of Mannington, WV, Catie Yoho of Mannington, WV, Richie Yoho of Mannington, WV, Rochelle White of Bridgeport, WV, Jamie Farley and husband Phililip of Fayetteville, WV; one great-grandson, Jeff Weimer; two sisters, Dorothy Hudson of North Carolina and Wilda Brooks of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents Mr. Sine was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Cathern Sine on November 11, 2004, having been married for 54 years; one daughter, Evelyn Miller; three sisters,Grace Kerrigan, Mary Pearl McCoy and Thelma Klein.
 
Mr. Sine was a 1942 graduate of Mannington High School, a member of the Bee Gum United Methodist Church having served as Superintendent. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid gardener and gave lots of produce away to folks in need. He was an avid farmer who enjoyed his cattle and working in the hayfield. He also enjoyed traveling and camping throughout 48 states. Mr. Sine was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War War II having served in the 281st Field Artillery Battalion Headquarters Battery. During his service career, he had been in seven countries. He was a very proud veteran. He was employed at Landers, Frey and Clark in Conneticut, Bowers Pottery and Retired from Pennzoil with 25 years of service as a compressor operator. He owned and operated his own oil wells.. He tried to keep his mind young having enjoyed his computer. He was a loving man and touched many lives. In his last days, he had made peace with his Lord and Saviour.
 
Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV on Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 3-9 P.M. and on Monday, April 2, 2012 10-4 and 6-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Osbourne officiating,. Burial will follow at the Bee Gum Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by the U S Army and the Marion County Military Veterans Council Honor Guard.. The family would like to thank the ICU Unit at the Veterans Hospital for the kind compassionate care given to their father. I will really miss your Dad. I have had several pleasant conversations with him. He had always spoke proudly of his family and absolutely loved talking about moments he had in the military. He was an inspiration to a young man. I will miss you Ed. Till we meet again my friend.

I'll always remember "Eddie" coming up to pump the wells by our house when I was a kid. He was a kind man and well thought of.

My sincere condolences to the family. I enjoyed my visits with Ed, during my trips to Mannington. He loved sharing memories of our common ancestors. A very distant cousin, Howard Hickman III, California.
