Eiko Hunter, age 77 of Mannington, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Mon Health Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born October 20, 1947 in Sendai, Japan a daughter of the late Masako Hosakawa Cobb.
She is survived by her husband William “Bill” Hunter of Mannington, WV, her two daughters, Jennifer Barker (Mike Harris) of Mannington and Amy Hunter (Joshua Parker) of Farmington, and three grandchildren, Brandon Barker of Charles Town, Hunter Barker of Worthington and Oliver Parker of Farmington. Eiko is also survived by three siblings, James (Yumi) Cobb of Utah, Richard Cobb of New York, and Janice Hallett Cobb (Tom Faulkner) of New York, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eiko was preceded in death by her close friends Claude and Helen Durnell who were very much like family to her!
Eiko was a loving mother and was a member of the First Christian Church in Mannington and the Eastern Star – Chapter #6. She loved to paint and was quite an artist and she also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She retired in 2010 from First Exchange Bank after 25 years of service. She also volunteered in the community at the CROSS and the Mannington food pantry.
There will be no funeral home services as Eiko has chosen cremation as the final method of disposition. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mannington Food Pantry. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
