Enid "Laurestine" Hayes

Enid “Laurestine” Hayes, 95 of Montana Mines, WV and formerly of Mannington, WV passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at United Hospital in Clarksburg.  She was born April 16, 1915 at Metz, WV a daughter of the late Elzie Harlan and Mary Ellen Haught Moore.

She is survived by her 8 daughters, Mary Belle Elza of Mannington, Charlotte Pennington and husband Don of Cleveland, OH, Sue Zupancic of Cookeville, TN, Joyce Dianne Cumberledge of Brunswick, OH, Sharon Richmond and husband George of Amherst, OH, Donna Peters and husband Ronnie of Euclid, OH, Linda Torch and husband Raymond of Waynesburg, PA, Brenda Starsick Carpenter and husband Kelvin of Montana Mines, WV; a daughter-in-law, Sophia Madeline Hayes of Fairmont, WV; 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 30 great great-grandchildren; one sister, Jessie Stiles of New Cumberland, WV; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Laurestine was preceded in death by her husband William Lester Hayes; one son, William Frederick Hayes; 3 grandchildren, Mary Jane Elza, Carol Jean Elza and David Starsick, one great-grandson, Brian Vergato, 4 brothers and 3 sisters

Laurestine was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles.  She enjoyed working with her flowers.  She also enjoyed attending church with her daughter, Brenda.  She loved life and all of her family and will be sadly missed.

Family and Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 2-9:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Wayne Efaw officiating.
