Ethel “Dee” Dye, age 87 of Mannington, WV passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Fairmont Health and Rehab. She was born May 21, 1935 of Bingamon, Mannington, WV a daughter of the late Joseph Hugh Fisher and Mary Grace Cunningham Fisher.
She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Sickles and Mannington and Elaine “Tiny” Bland and fiancé George Belt of Mannington, two sons, Dale Sickles and family of Morgantown and Paul and Barb Sickles of Hedgesville, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and her loving neighbor who was like a son to her, Derek Gregory.
In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death the father of her children Melvin Sickles, two sisters, Geraldine Berry and Twila Piffer, two brothers, Donald Fisher and William Ellis “Bill” Fisher, a sister-in-law Mildred Fisher, a granddaughter Melissa Sickles, and a grandson Dustin Akers.
Dee had worked for the City of Mannington as a Meter Maid, then being sworn in by Sheriff Ron Watkins as a Street Patrol Officer. She also worked at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah as well as a Volunteer for the Mannington Rescue Squad. Dee was a loving mother who truly loved her family. She lived by the motto “Keep your sense of humor”! She enjoyed listening and singing her favorite hymns, one in particular “Everyone wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die”. She also liked repeating a saying her mom used to say, “These things shall pass”.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 10:00am to 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Chaplin Austin Lynch with Amedysis in Clarksburg officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Dee. A wonderful lady who, in the many decades we knew her, we always found to be a very nice and interesting person to encounter. She will be missed by so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
