Everett Earl “Red” Higgins, age 77 of Mannington, WV passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born January 21, 1943 at Smithfield, WV a son of the late Birchie and Mary Hibbs Higgins.
Red is survived by three children, Kimberley (Roger) Yerkey of Carney’s Point, NJ, Everett (Missy) Higgins Jr. of Pennsboro, WV, and Brian (Goldie) Higgins of Pine Grove, WV; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (Glyn) Jones of Farmington, WV and Donnah (Jeff) Rice of Pine Grove, WV; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by his wife Wilma Hays Higgins who died February 2, 2005; two brothers, Albert and Harry Higgins, and one sister, Helen Carnes.
Red was a graduate of Valley High School in Pine Grove, WV. He retired from Balfour Beatty Rail. He was also worked for Big John Salvage in Fairmont.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 2-9:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 1:00pm with Reverend Jerry Kuhens Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Pricetown Cemetery. so sorry to hear about Red. he was a very nice man and I am happy that he was married to one of my best friends, Wilma Higgins. They were happy for many years. Then him and another friend, Charlotte Wood Dye were happy together as well. God bless the children. I knew Kimberly better than the others and she is a sweet girl, like her Mom. so sorry for the boys and all the grand children as well. May God be with all of you during this time.
