
Floyd Allen Bissett, age 78 of Mohans Run, Mannington, WV went to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 5, 2024. He passed away quietly at home with his beloved family and his Elle by his side. He was born April 9, 1946 in Fairmont, WV, a son of the late Rev. Chester Samuel Bissett and Lillian Gorbey Bissett.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Linda Bland Bissett, a son George Allen (Missi) Bissett of Stonewood, stepsons Samuel West of Laurelville, OH, Michael (Dawn) Stark of Fairmont, WV, Jason (Brooke) Stark of Barrackville, WV, grandchildren Layton Bissett of Kingwood, Maura, Luke and Lilly Stark and Conner Rush and one great-granddaughter, a sister Sharon Bissett, a sister-in-law Judy Bissett, both of Mannington, niece Anna Maria (David) Hughes, two nephews, David (Laura) and Michael Burton of New Jersey and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his brother David and stepson Jack West.
Floyd will be forever missed by his family and his many friends as he never met a stranger. He spent many happy times hunting and golfing with Everett Wolfe, Dennis Williams and Charles Morgan, his very special friends who were helpful and supportive whenever he needed them. Floyd graduated with the Class of 1964. He loved playing sports, starting with little league baseball, basketball in 7th to 10th grade, and high school football for three years. Floyd enjoyed filming football games first with Mannington Big Green (5 years) and then with North Marion (5 years) film crew.
Floyd started his career working at the Bissett Body Shop. He began selling cars at Michael Motors from 1972 to 1978, URSE Dodge from 1978 to 1980, and Corwin Ford from 1980 to 2010 when he retired. Rick Corwin was not only his boss but also a very good friend. Floyd served for a time in the US Naval Reserve. He was proud to serve in the Mannington Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed all outdoor activities with his son, stepsons, and grandson. He also enjoyed playing music with friends Ike Morgan, Jerry Taylor and Carol Toothman Booth.
Friends and family may call the Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 4-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in funeral home on Thursday, May 9, 2024 beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Randy Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at Viewpoint Cemetery in Rachel.
