Francis Marion “Frank” Bland, 88 of Wana, WV passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Heartland of Clarksburg. He was born November 9, 1923, a son of the late Samuel Edward Bland and Mary Alice Strope Bland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Bland of Waynesburg, PA; one daughter, Nancy Murphy of New York; one son, Francis Bland of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren, Rebecca Rineharty Gorby and husband Jason of Lumberport, WV and Russell Murphy, Jr. of Sardis, WV; 7 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Coby, Danielle, Quinn, Russell and Ryan; one sister, Mary Toothman of Fairmont, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death a daughter, Francis Suzette Bland; 3 brothers, Louis M. (Johny), Charles E. and Harold L. Bland; 3 sisters, Sara Jane Masters, Mildred O. Sutter and Gracie Pearl Sanney.
Frank was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He retired as a coal miner and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
There will be no funeral home visitation or services or graveside services at Mr. Bland’s request. Interment will be private. Memorial Contributions can be made to Bula Baptist Church in Bula, WV.
