Franklin Paul “Popeye” Smith, age 77, of Metz, WV passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Rosewood Center in Grafton, WV. He was born December 6, 1948 in Fairmont, WV a son of the late Simon and Anna Glover Smith.
He is survived by his three children, Franklin Paul Smith II of Metz, Samantha (Robert) Wright of Worthington, and Chad Smith of Metz, his sister Lydia (Charles) Auxier of Ohio, nine grandchildren, Melissa (Gage) Watson, Danielle (Zane) Straight, Shaylah Slaughter, Abigail Smith, Katherine Smith, Gabrielle Wright, Raley Wright, Natalya Smith and Paisley Smith, and one great-grandson Liam Watson. Frank is also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Sue Smith who died on July 23, 2023, and his brother Arnold Smith.
Frank was a Veteran having served his country in the United States Navy. He was retired and loved hunting and fishing and hanging out with his friends.
The family will receive friends at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 E Main Street in Mannington on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 3-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Jones officiating. Burial will be take place at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Greene County Honor Guard and the United States Navy.
