
Garland Edgar Minor, 91, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born on August 22, 1927 in Rachel, Marion County, WV. He was the son of the late Jolly Lemley Minor and Rachel Olive (Stout) Minor.
After high school, Garland went on to serve in the United States Navy during WWII receiving the WWII Victory, Asiatic Pacific and American Area Medals. He retired from National Steel from the boiler plate line. Many will remember Garland for his love of farming with his son, tinkering in the garage, enjoyed recycling scrape and junk and mowing his lawn; but most of all, his devotion to his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Garland was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Yvonne Minor.
Garland is survived by his three children, Dr. Mark Minor, MD and his wife, Rachael of Indialantic, FL, Kevin Minor and his wife, RuLetta, and Lisa Minor, all of Wellsburg, WV, six grandchildren, Mac and his fiancé, Stephanie Leonard, Morgan and her husband, Taylor Roberts, Megan, Emily, Sarah and John, a great grandson, Dominic, three siblings, Evelyn Morey and her husband, Gene of Colorado, Wilma Barker Moore and her husband, Lloyd Sr., and Hugh Minor and his wife, Beverly, all of Mannington, WV and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 2:00-8:00 PM and again on Sunday from 12 Noon until time of Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, WV with Dr. Michael P. Reese of the Mannington Church of Christ officiating. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Marion County Veterans Council. Interment will follow in Mannington Memorial Park in Mannington, WV.
