Geraldine L. Powell, 85, 320 North Rose St., Mannington, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Fitzwaters Personal Care Home, Fairmont. She was born Oct 13, 1928 at Buck Run, Wetzel County, daughter of the late Timothy O. and Roseann Burdine Norris.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, Drexil “Gene” Powell, to whom she had been married 65 years and 9 months; four daughters, Pamela and her husband, Merle “Pete” Cole of Mannington, Anita and her husband, Lester Rivenbark of Greensboro, NC, Teri and her husband, Tim Shock of Mannington, and Crystal and her husband, Herb Frye of Plum Run; four sons, Bradley Powell of Blacksville, Kevin and his wife, Dana Powell of Mannington, Kelly and his wife, Carrin Powell of Mannington, and Timothy and his wife, Cheryl Powell, of Flaggy Meadow. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Zelda Kirkpatrick, of Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Norris, a grandson, Royce Allen Frye, and a son-in-law, Rick Cunningham.

Geraldine had been a member of the Church of Christ for 73 years. Her passion in life was her family, (children and grandchildren). She was a full time mother and devoted her life to helping others.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 2 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 11:00 am. with Evangelist Dr. Michael P. Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the fantastic care given to their mother by Heather and Tim Fitzwater and the entire staff at Fitzwaters Personal Care as well as Hospice Care for their help.
