Gloria Dell Boyles Morris, age 81 of Mannington, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Gloria was known for her gracious smile and kind heart and camera in her hand. She was born at home in Mannington on December 9, 1937, a daughter of the late Harold and Ferne Elizabeth Jackson Boyles.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 61 years, Albert V. Morris. There were wed on May 16, 1958. Also surviving are her children, David Morris of Shinnston, Diane Watson of Fairmont, Darla Morris of Mannington, four grandchildren, Zane George, Monica Wood, Kaylee and Ella Watson, great-granddaughter Lydia Wood, also by Jonathan Watson, one sister, Ann Cummins of Mannington and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Jackson “Jack” Boyles who died in 1930, three brothers-in-law, James Cummins, Pat Morris and Jim Morris, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Amos and Jeanette Morris.
Gloria was a graduate of Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and worked for nine years on the maternity floor at the hospital, and was then employed by the Marion County Health Dept, working clinics and home visits. She was a member of the Mannington Womens Club, CEOS, and a lifelong member of the Bee Gum United Methodist Church and sang with the Joyful Voices. She was a member of the West Augusta Historical Society and enjoyed photography.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 1-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Yanero officiating. Burial will follow at the Bee Gum Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bee Gum United Methodist Church. Im so sorry to hear of Gloria passing..since i moved to Florida i usually get news by looking thru obituaries..and local news..my condolences to the Morris family...
Gloria was simply the best kind of person. Her genuine compassion for others was evident in the way she treated everyone kindly. I will miss her smile and sweet conversations. She was a wonderful neighbor to my family and a light in this community. My warmest wishes, deepest condolences, and most sincere prayers go out to her family.
