Helen L. Parrish, 98 of Inwood, WV and formerly of Mannington, WV passed away unexpectedly and peacefully Sunday evening, July 14, 2013 at the Shenandoah Center Nursing Home in Charles Town, WV. She was born January 7, 1915 at Dent’s Run, Mannington, WV, daughter of the late Henry H. Satterfield and Zella A Batson Sloan Satterfield.
She is survived by her son, James A. Parrish and wife Martha of Inwood, WV; one granddaughter, Dawn Denise Parrish of Inwood, WV; 2 grandsons, Jeffrey Jay Parrish and wife Nicole of Bunker Hill, WV and Mark Allen Parrish and wife Michele of San Clemente, CA; 5 great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Smith and husband Andrew, Emily Parrish, Savanna Parrish, Jessica Parrish and Julia Parrish; 2 great-great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Parrish, who died in 1991; 3 sisters, Irene Snider, Della Blankenship and Georgia Hibbs; 2 brothers, Floyd Sloan and Denzil Satterfield who died in infancy.
Helen was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cared very deeply for all her family. She enjoyed cooking and family get togethers.
Friends and Family may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 3-5:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Although we are not able to be there for the funeral, we are so sorry to lose our Aunt Helen. She was such a special lady whom we always enjoyed spending time with at our family reunions. Tom and I were just talking about her on Monday when he called to tell me that my Aunt Melrose George had passed July 14th .I still cannot believe we lost both aunts on the same day.
