Howard Ray “Junkie” Masters, age 97 of Mannington, WV entered into Eternal Rest on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Pierpont Center Fairmont Campus. He was born September 21, 1925 in Mannington, WV, a son of the late Daniel Masters and Mary Elizabeth Clark Masters.

He is survived by his son Stanley (Ginger) Masters of Fairmont, WV, his daughter Darla Stull of Dunbar, WV, his granddaughter Stephanie Masters of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Junkie was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Linville Masters, his second wife Eldora “Dorie” Linville Masters who died July 22, 2020, a son Harlan Ray Masters, a daughter Linda Masters, a son-in-law John Stull, and seven brothers and sisters, Eunice (Arnold) Blankenship, Margaret Bell (Arthur) Long, Alice (Ray) Hawkins, Lucinda Masters, Dan (Sarah) Masters, Charles “Bud” (Bonnie) Masters, and Dave (Virginia) Masters.

Junkie was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during WWII. He retired from Pennzoil Gas Co. with 26 years of service. He was always working on something, building furniture or iron. He was the neighborhood welder for many in the community and for the city parks building small fences and bridges in town. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and coin collector.

There will be no public visitation or funeral services at this time. There will be a memorial service at a later date at the convenience of the family. A private graveside service with Military Rites accorded by the US Navy and the Marion County Veterans Council will be held at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.

He will always be in our hearts and memories. He was willing and able to help so many people with his talents. We appreciate his service to our country in WWll. He was very good at finding scrap copper and brass. He was a top notch fellow and he will be missed. Stan and Steph and family our hearts are with you.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Howard. Junkie was a longtime friend of ours. He had worked with my dad on the flood control project, and Junkie served for many years on the board of Buffalo Valley Association. A nice man with a great family. He will be missed by me and so many others,
