Iris Toothman

Iris Leona Cook Toothman, age 87, of Plum Run Community, Mannington, WV, passed onto her rewards on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Pleasant Acres Christian Haven in Fairmont. She was born February 9, 1930, in Irons Springs, James Fork, Marion County, WV, the youngest of nine children born to Jacob A. and Audia L. Rice Cook. Iris enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother and mam-ma. She loved crocheting and word-search puzzles. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, she most recently attended the Oakhurst congregation at Farmington. She very much enjoyed spending time with her church family. Iris was a proud 1949 graduate of Farmington High School. Iris is survived by her children, a son, Paul Toothman Jr. of Mannington and a daughter, Jill Dianne (Eric) Savoy of Salisbury of Maryland; grandchildren, Paula (Scott) Miles of Cheyenne, WY, Regina (Nick Martin) Toothman of Bridgeport, Mary Queen of Frederick, MD, Vanessa (William “BJ”) Mohr of Laurel, DL, Natalie (Matthew) Dowling of Columbia, MD, and Joe Toothman of Shinnston; great-grandchildren, Ambra Bush, Maddie Miles, Isabelle Martin, Andie Toothman, Jenna Toothman, Bay Martin, Casey Dowling, Brittany Mohr, Angelia Mohr, Riley Dowling, Tim Miles, Seth McCloy, Gavin Mohr and Donovan Dowling; great-great-grandchildren, Blake and Stephanie Drummond. Iris is also survived by a sister, Jean Clark of Fairview; a sister-in-law, Ann Cook of Fairview; and a brother-in-law, H.A. “Pat” Patterson of Polk City, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ernest Paul Toothman, Sr. and a grandson, Ernest Paul Toothman III. Also deceased are her siblings and in-laws, Virgie (Carl “Ace”) McIntire, Margaret “Cricket” (George) Hawkinberry, Marvin (Mary) Cook, Harley (Leona) Cook, Doris (John “Mose”) Whinnie, Jack Cook, Henry Clark, and her beloved twin, Inis Patterson. The Family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant Acres Christian Haven Association in Fairmont for the compassionate care give to their mother while a resident there. Also thanks to Amedyiss Hospice for their care as well. Very special thanks to Rita and Louise. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 1:00pm with Evangelist Craig Matheny officiating. Burial will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington.
