James Woodrow “Woody” Efaw, age 79, of Mannington, WV passed away at Fairmont Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. He was born August 22, 1938 in Fairmont. WV, a son of the late Dee Woodrow Efaw and Zana Rosalee Watson Efaw Matheny. Woody is survived by his wife of 14 years, Velma “June” Bartlett Efaw of Mannington; one daughter, Julie and Albert Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO; 2 grandsons, AJ Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO and Tyler and Kimmy McCarley of Oklahoma, and currently serving in Afghanistan; 2 great-grandchildren, Colt McCarley and Jason McCarley; a step-son, Frank LaPointe and companion Vicki Dodd of Mannington; 5 step-grandsons, Jason and Laura LaPointe of Fairmont, Shaun LaPointe of Mannington, Dustin LaPointe of Elkins, Zacharia Jacobs of Mesa, AZ, and Charles Jacobs of Mesa, AZ; two step-great-grandchildren, Elijah LaPointe and Cheyenne LaPointe; two brothers, Harold and Alta Efaw of Mannington and Randy and Linda Efaw of Mannington; 2 sisters, Iva Loretta Cave and Richard of Henderson, TN, and Karen and Gary Marteney of Mannington; a sister-in-law, Edna Ruth Efaw; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by a son, James Joseph Efaw; and one brother, Donald Earnest Efaw. Woody was self-employed as a constructural bridge painter, tree trimming and removal, carpentry and construction work for over 30 years. He was a member of the Mannington Church of Christ. Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 2-8pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11am. Interment will follow at the Dudley Cemetery.
