Jimmy Meral Fluharty, age 90 of Mannington, WV passed away on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the VA Nursing Home in Clarksburg. He was born May 23, 1931 in Plum Run, Mannington, a son of the late Simon and Maggie Parker Fluharty.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Lisa Morris of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Ryan Morris of Monrovia MD, Ashley Morris of Fairmont, and Eric Morris of Little River SC; five great-grandchildren, Halle Morris, Cash Morris, Brieann Morris, Lincoln Morris and Jalen Partida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Linda Lou Hatfield; and 11 brothers and sisters, Lloyd Fluharty, Georgia Potts, Bill Fluharty, Elery Fluharty, Kester Fluharty, Joe Fluharty, Clinton Fluharty, Nola Santee, Olive Tennant, Clara Haught and Iva Tuttle.
Jimmy was a member of the UMWA and retired from the Loveridge #22 Mine. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a loving husband and father who loved his family, friends and neighbors. He loved hunting and traveling with family and friends. He was a skilled craftsman and could fix just about anything! His great-grandchildren were the love of his life. He enjoyed them very much.
The family will receive friends at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6-8:00pm. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton where full Military Honors will be held by the Marion County Veterans Council and The United States Army. Anyone wishing to travel to the cemetery will meet at the funeral home and leave in procession at 11:45am. He was a wonderful man and stubborn when he was outside on the ladder he would say don't tell Lisa she will be mad he had his ways to do everything with out help all you could do is let him do what made him happy you could offer him help he said he would get it even if it took him 2 or 3 days just had to make sure you kept and eye on him make sure he was safe
Such a kind man. I met him when I worked for the Senior Center and helped with Linda. 2 truly wonderful people.
