John Edgar “Jay” Hern Jr., age 53 of Farmington, WV passed away unexpectedly October 2, 2025 in Farmington, WV. He was born May 27, 1972 in Fairmont, WV, a son of Margaret and Bill Floyd of Shinnston and the late John Hern Sr.
He is survived by his son Damon Hern and his sister Crystal (Michael) Collett of Wallace, WV. Jay is also survived by two nephews, Andrew Stanley and Austin Stanley. In addition to his father, Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred Hern and Stella Hern, and maternal grandparents, Eugene and Garvine (Campbell) Farley.
Jay enjoyed drawing and working with wood. He also enjoyed mechanics, video games, and spending time with his lifelong friend Brian Stanley.

There will be no funeral home services as cremation was chosen as the final method of disposition. There will be a graveside service at a later date at the convenience of the family. Masters Funeral Home in Mannington has been placed in care of the final arrangements.
