John Ray Smith, age 86 of Mannington, West Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at his residence. He was born May 4, 1935 at Metz, West Virginia, a son of the late Jimmie Smith and Ada Haught Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Jones) Smith of Mannington; two sons, Jeffrey Smith and his wife Rhonda of Mannington, and Jonathan Smith and his wife Giulia of Germanton, NC; one daughter, Lisa Robbins and her husband Keith of Rivesville, WV; 7 grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Barker, Angie (Rob) Hayes, Nikki (Jon) Toothman, Bethany (Corey) Dulaney, Lauren Boros, Hannah (Jonathan) Clark, and Cody Murray; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three sisters and their spouses, Pauline (Ray) Porter, Giulia (Dan) Ice, and Geneva (Albert) Jones. John was a United States Army Veteran and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St. Mannington on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 4-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 beginning at 11:00am with Pastor Lee Bowman officiating. Interment will follow at Viewpoint Cemetery in Rachel. I knew John from growing up across the road at my grandparents house in Brookside so I extend my colendences to the smith family in the memory of the smith family. Mr Smith was a good man he used to help my grandparents out cutting the grass and other stuff.
