John Stull

John Russell Stull, 64 of Hurricane, WV passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at CAMC-Teays Valley.  He was born August 23, 1947 in Mannington, WV, a son of the late Carney Ray, Sr. and Lola B. Kern Stull.  He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Stull and Shirley Robinson and a brother, Carney Ray Stull, Jr.

John was a retired supervisor from the Division of Rehabilitation Services of the State of West Virginia where his compassionate nature allowed him to help those with special needs.  He was instrumental with the beginning of the clothing room for clients at the Rehab Center.  He was a member and usher at the Dunbar Mountain Mission and was active with the Christmas basket program and the food program of the church.  He was a graduate of Fairmont State College with a degree in Education and taught in the public school system and the industrial arts department of Spencer State Hospital.  He was also an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

Surviving are his wife, Darla M. Stull; his brothers, William “Bill” Stull of Cortland, OH and James L. Stull of Fairmont; and his dachshund, Ivanna, whom he loved greatly.

Service will be held at 11am Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Dunbar Mountain Mission with Pastor Jim Phillips officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9am until service time at the church.

Additional visitation will be held 10-11am Friday, March 23, 2012 at Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, WV with a graveside service to be held immediately following at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sorry to hear of John's passing. I have not seen John in years, but have good memories of growing up on Whetstone.
