John Richard Watson, age 84 of Pine Grove, WV passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the home of his nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Snider Watson on September 22, 2021.

He also was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Ethel Watson; his in-laws, Ray Snider and Ethel Snider Dodd; son-in-law, Mike Payton; daughter-in-law, Becky Watson; a sister, Margaret Hatcher; four brothers, Kenneth, Robert, William, and James Watson; five brothers-in-law, Clyde Hatcher, Don Snider, Jack Spears, Blaine Spencer, and Dean Hayes; and seven sisters-in-law, Marie Watson, Gladys Snider, Garnet Parrish, Betty Spears, Jacqueline Spencer, Judy Hayes, and Wanda Headley.

John is survived by three children, John (Susan) Watson of WV, Cindy Payton of OH, and Gary (Julie) Watson of WV; a brother-in-law, James (Ethel) Snider of Lumberport, WV; seven grandchildren, John (Sierra) Watson III, Carol (Denny) McDougal, Matt (Nina) Watson, Kenny (Mary) Watson, Josh Watson, Megan (Guy) Blancato, and Zach Watson; 20 great-grandchildren, Jason, Emily, Destiny, Eddie, Memphis, MacKenzie, Nevaeh, Mariah, Colton, Allytheia, Dominic, Derrek, Dalton, Shayna, Derek, Sophia, Olivia, Grace, Jordan and Henley; and several nieces and nephews.

John was born December 3, 1937 in Pennsylvania and was a Baptist by Faith. He served in the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and in Korea. He loved his family and the Lord very much!

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 11:00am to 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:pm with Pastor Larry Watson officiating.
