My heart aches for all of you at this horrible unexpected time. There is nothing worse that losing a loved one so suddenly. I know first hand the pain you are feeling. I, myself lost my 8yr old daughter, Cara Jo, just 6ys ago this month due to a atv accident in Mannington. God Bless you all and God bless Jonathan. I certainly dont know everything but would welcome any correspondence if I can help at all. Sincerely, Kim Culver.

Joy, Forever Friends

We knew there was a bond
right from the very start.
Yes we are forever friends,
connected at the heart
by the changes in our lives
that led us here to this place.
We may not ever meet each other face to face.
But our hearts remain entwined
by a love that is divine
for we know that one great day
As Jesus our Lord did say
We will be met by those we love
Who have gone before to up above
And I will know you there my friend
As the love for our chidren
unites us to the end......connie.....xoxooxoxox

I leave my deepest sympathies to Jon's parents mike and joy and the entire Gernstl family..personally i will miss Jon deeply.laying him to rest was the hardest thing i have ever had to do..we were best friends for a very long time.we had many good times, bad times and caused a lot of trouble together, memories i now will treasure for the rest of my life.i didn't just lose a friend, I lost a brother, I loved him.Jon will never be forgotten, as a matter of fact I'm about to get a tattoo in his honor about an hour after i finish typing this, from another of Jon's good friends Derek, His entire circle of friends here in New York loved that man,we are all in mourning...Jon always did things the only way he knew how,BIG..everything he did was over the top even his dreams were grand, and to me, i admit, sounded farfetched or crazy at times. but I always knew that if anyone was gonna pull it off,it was gonna be Jon.He had an Amazing work ethic,he worked hard at everything he did and refused to let anything slow him down,he also loved to slow down sometimes and enjoy the little things in life like fishing, gardening, or spending time outdoors with friends,he was kind hearted,he would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it,i seen him do it.but as anyone who know him knew he wasn't afraid to rip his shirt off! But tragically he died just like he lived, living life to the extreme.yet few people get to leave this world that early in their life with that many good stories and memories of them, but that was Jon, he worked hard to please those around him and he never disappointed. Jon, my friend,I sent you away with some herb, I know you'll have some waiting for me when I see you upstairs.

may you rest In peace, Jonathan Gernstl aka Shotgun!

My heart is broken! This was a boy who when growing up was part of my family! Him and my son were the best of friends and inseperable. He will be dearly missed! I am only sorry that for the last few years we have lost touch.I will regret that horribly. Rest in peace Jon! I love you!
