Kenneth Gail “Boo” Higgins, age 74 of Wiseman Run, Mannington, WV passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026 at his residence. He was born February 28, 1952 at Hawks Nest, Harrison Co, WV a son of the late Gail and Helen Martin Higgins.
He is survived by three sisters, June Overton of Charleston, WV, Wanda and Kenny Stevens of Joetown, and Betty and Donald Stevens of Joetown, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, including his nephew Argle Overton that lived with him in Joetown.
In addition to his parents, Boo was preceded in death by five siblings, Richard “Buck” Higgins, Jay Higgins, Barbara and Chester Overton, Rose Higgins, and Roger “Moe” Higgins.
Boo was a “jack-of-all-trades” and a backwoods mechanic and had worked at Paul Hawkins Sawmill for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years he was usually found on the front porch with a “cold drink” in his hand.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice for providing comfort and care. They would also like to thank Jennifer Stevens, Lori Gooden, Kelly Hayes and Heather and Tyler Odell for providing around the clock care.
There will be a graveside service on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Elizabeth Mason Cemetery in Joetown at 11:00am with Pastor Jerry Reel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
