Lavonna “Sue” Kendall Snodgrass Long, age 84, of Mannington, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Ocober 24, 2025 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born February 1, 1941 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Lee Roy Kendall and Mamie Pearl Taylor Kendall.

Sue is survived by three sons, John Brian Snodgrass, Thomas Lee Snodgrass and David Curtis Snodgrass, six grandchildren, John Brian Snodgrass II, Virginia Hope Snodgrass, Brian Earl Snodgrass, Thomas Lee Snodgrass II, Falon Nachole Snodgrass and David Curtis Snodgrass II.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Snodgrass in 2000, her husband Charles Long in 2004, whom she married in 1985 in St Croix of the Virgin Islands, one son, Donald Ray Snodgrass in 2017, one sister, Mary Jane Masters in 2006, and one sister-in-law Jolina Snodgrass in 2016.

Sue was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mannington since 1970 until it’s closure in 2022 and served in various rolls including devotional leader for Sunday School, Sunday School superintendent, reorganized the church choir, pianist for Sunday School and Children’s Choir and Children’s service at church, Church council charity person, superintendent of publicity for vacation bible school and liturgist, 1992 Caribbean Crescent Missionary work team to Mexico, she helped organize children’s (and taught) and adult’s classes while superintendent and she faithfully kept the bulletin boards at church current monthly. She also worked for the Mannington District Fair for over 20 years, worked on the election board and for the WV Extension office as a cook at Camp Mar-Mac, she was an executive officer Cub Scout Troup 9.

Sue attended the Snodgrass School for 8 years, which is currently on display at the Fairmont State Campus and was a graduate of Mannington High School, Class of 1958 and attended Fairmont State University and Fairmont State School of Nursing, having retired from Marion County Board of Education with 30 years of service. She enjoyed reading Nicholas Sparks and Amish fiction and then discussing them with friends, enjoyed playing piano, helping others and loved going to her son’s farm where she grew up at to help when she was physically able. She loved spending time with those dear grandchildren, babysitting them when they were young. God, Family and Country were important to her.

The family will receive friends at Masters Funeral Home, 209 E Main Street in Mannington, WV on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 2-8:00 pm and on Wednesday, October 29, from 12-1:00pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm with Pastor Jerry Bush officiating. Burial will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
