Lettie Louise Lemley, 76 of Summers School Road, Morgantown went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 2, 2013 surrounded by her adopted family by her side. Lettie is the daughter of the late Norman and Anna Laura Hudson Lemley and adopted daughter to the late William and Cynthia Hart Gibson.
Lettie was born September 27, 1936 in the town of Mannington, WV. Lettie became family to the Gibsons 35 years ago and immediately adopted them as her Mom and Dad and the children as her brother and sisters. Lettie is survived by those children, Tina Gibson-Gidley (husband Dan) with whom she made her home, Patricia Gibson and life partner Mary Pearson, and William “Willie” Gibson Jr. and fiancé Chelsea Burns. Also she was blessed with several adopted aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends Mary Freeman and Garry King.
Lettie’s personality brought joy to all she met, she never met a stranger, was always vibrant and full of life and always had a kiss and hug for you. She loved to dance, sing and tell stories of her childhood. She never let you forget to pick up ice cream and 3 Musketeers from the store. There was never a dull moment when she was in your presence.
Lettie spoke of being blessed with a daughter and with 2 sisters, Ms. Betty Toothman-Martaloga and Shirley Tiberlo and their families. She was also preceded in death by Grandma Berthie and Grandpa Dave and her beloved pet Frazzie.
We would like to offer a special thanks to WV DHHR, Valley DHP, Sundale, and Hospice Care Corporation for all the love and care they showed her throughout her life.
