Lewis “Junior” Hanning, age 92 of Mannington, WV passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 Monongahela General Hospital in Morgantown. He was born July 23, 1934 in Boothsville, WV a son of the late Robert Hanning and Helen McDonald Hanning.
He is survived by his daughter Melissa (Rick) Brooks, his sister-in-law Linda Wade, brother-in-law Robert Wade, and sister-in-law Frida Villers, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Hanning with whom she was married to for 64 years, his brother Cyril Minnick, three brothers-in-law, Arnold Batson, Willard Villers Sr., and Tom Simpson, two sisters-in-law, Martha Batson and Mary Simpson, and his grandparent Alva and Ollie McDonald.
Junior was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy of Metz. He enjoyed singing and had sung on the radio with his wife Nancy as they went by “Tex and Little Beaver”. He loved mowing grass, rodeo dancing, playing solitaire, and reading his Bible, which he had read straight through and backwards!
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Dennis Howard and Pastor Nieta Howard officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
