Lillian Glora Bissett, 87 of Mannington, went to be with the Lord and Savior and her husband, Chester, on Sunday, February 24, 2013. She passed away quietly at her home with her family at her side. Lillian was born April 27, 1925, in Harrison County, WV, a daughter of the late James and Hazel Cremeens Gorbey.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Judy Bissett; son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Linda Bissett; daughter, Sharon L. Bissett; grandchildren, Anna Maria Hughes and husband David; David J. Burton, Jr., and Michael A. Burton of NJ, and G. Allen Bissett and wife Joyce; great-grandchildren, April L. Hughes of PA, Daniel R. Walsh of FL, David G. Hughes, Jr. and wife Melanie, Brittni L. Tatterson and Layton S. Bissett; great-great-granddaughters, Jaelynn M. Newbrough and Maliah P. Hughes. She is also survived by one brother, Charles W. Gorbey and wife Shelby; one sister, Carol Stemple and husband Gloy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; four sisters, Louise Crane, Martha Ceccanese, Betty Miker and Rose Schifano; one brother, James E. Gorbey, and granddaughter, Michelle L. Tatterson.
Lillian was a member of the Blackshere United Methodist Church. As a young woman, who worked in NYC. During World War II, she worked for Westinghouse, winding motors for aircrafts. Later she worked alongside her husband for many years in the family-owned auto-body repair business, Bissett Body Shop. She was an amateur radio operator, call number KA8BPA. Lillian enjoyed riding motorcycles and ATVs with her husband, Chester. She also enjoyed singing alongside him as he accompanied on the guitar. She was a wonderful mother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
There will be no funeral home visitation or funeral services. Committal services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Beverly Hills Memorial Garden Chapel with Pastor Randy Vincent officiating. Entombment will follow. Floyd, when your dad pass away last year, I was a member of the Marion County Honor Guard that did your father funeral. I was the US Flag bearer.
