Mae “Louise” Hyer, age 89 of Joetown Community, Mannington, WV passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Mae Sloan of Mannington.
On April 16, 1955, Louise married Lawrence “Bud” Hyer who was killed in a mining accident at Four States Mine on Whetstone Rd. on May 17, 1974. From that union came four daughters, Cheryl (John K.) Holbert with who lived with her, Sharon (Dallas Jr.) May of Morgantown, Kathy (“Ike”) Morgan of Michigan, and Donna (Melvin) Sanders of Fairmont, 9 grandchildren, Amie (Craig) Walker, Nikki Schrader, Phillip (Sarah) Heater, Jessica Robinson, Melissa Heater, Virginia (Gary) Hardesty, Allen Heater, Rachel May and Kyle (Danielle) May, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Louise is also survived by her sister Judith Thompson and her brother Gary (Sheila) Sloan of Mannington.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise was preceded in death by her brother Charles Sloan and infant brother Harry Edward.
Louise was one of the founding members of the Free Worship Chapel. She remained faithful in her walk with God and served Him with all of her heart! The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice care partners Nikki Baker, Jenne Hardesty, Nikki Schrader and Donna Sanders for all of the help and comfort given to their mother at this time!
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 2-8:00 and also on Monday, August 10, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral services will follow beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor Mike Hamrick officiating. Interment will be held at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

Cheryl...Kathy..Sharon and Donna..i never had the pleasure of meeting your momma but I know she was a wonderful person because she raised 4 wonderful daughters..Im so sorry each of u r going through this and I know your hearts are broke ..but smile because she lived and she will always be n your heart..a bond between a momma and daughter is never ever broke she will still walk beside u..
