Marian Virginia King-Efaw, 85 of Mannington, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013 at St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah, WV. She was born March 9, 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents, Corbly and Virginia Leone Yost King, her husband of 57 years, Edward D. Efaw, and her brother, Glenn King.
She is survived by her three sons and their spouses, David R. and RuthAnn Efaw of Jakes Run/Fairview, Mark E. and Penny Efaw of Mods Run/Mannington and Matthew C. and Marlene Efaw of Katy; many grandchildren, Jonathan and Tionna Efaw, Jon and Tabitha Baylor, Adam Efaw, Brandon and Jerrica Efaw, Michael Efaw, Christopher Efaw, Amber and Doug Deadrick, Kalen Efaw, Lindsey Efaw, Madison Lascola, Anthony Lascola, and Lena Lascola; great-grandchildren, Kathryn Efaw, Brendon Efaw, Cannon Sawitski and Ma’lia Efaw; and many extended family members and friends, especially her sister-in-law, Jean Efaw.
Marian lived a long and fulfilling life. She grew up in St. Leo (Little Africa), WV. She attended Clay Battelle H.S. but graduated from Mannington H.S., Class of 1946. Edward and Marian met shortly before he deployed to Europe with the Army in WWII and married shortly after his return home. A year after being married, they welcomed their first baby son, David, followed by their son, Mark 12 ½ years later, and then their son Matt, 16 months later.
Marian had worked in and around Mannington for many years, mainly the State Food Store and for a short time, at the Drapery Factor. She attended church faithfully as a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mannington. She was renowned for her cooking and baking skills…always keeping her cookie-jar full! Edward and Marian enjoyed being snowbirds and spending winters in Arcadia, FL.
The family would like the Thank all the staff with Hospice for their outstanding care and support, the staff at St. Barbara’s for keeping her comfortable throughout her last days and the caregivers who cared for her so lovingly in her home.
Family and Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4 - 9:00 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 10-11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Mannington with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor Lee Bowman officiating.
