
Martha Kay (Ice) Leeson, age 78, of Mannington, WV passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, June 4, 2021. Kay was born in Mannington at her homestead on February 22, 1943.
She was the youngest of nine children. She is survived by her daughter Susan Wolfe and son-in-law James Wolfe of Fairmont, WV, and her daughter Renee Leeson-Fuchs and son-in-law Benjamin Fuchs of Delaware.
”Kay Kay” will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Tyson Wolfe and his girlfriend Atlanta Mundell, Talissa Wolfe and Tresalyn Wolfe, Ella Fuchs and Isabel Fuchs as well as three great-grandchildren, Raylee Mundell, Westlynn Wolfe, and Hunter Criner. She is also dearly missed by her beloved dog Maggie.
Kay was the daughter of the late Bessie (Hayes) Ice and Rawley D. Ice of Mannington, WV. She is preceded in death by her brothers Daniel Ice and his wife Guilia, Robert Ice and his wife Frances, Bert Ice and his wife Jean, and two sister Marie Cattley and husband Bud, and Betty Hoy and husband Wilbur. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Toothman of Mannington, Alma Taft and her husband Nate of Rock Hill, SC, and Lena Jo Bereksazi of Pittsburgh, PA as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her former spouse Charles E. Leeson of Weirton, WV.
Kay began her work career at Westinghouse in Fairmont, WV. After marriage, she moved to Weirton, WV where she raised her family and worked at Colliers Steel and later at the Hancock County School System. A huge Elvis fan, Kay enjoyed listening to music, spending time with her family, gardening, crafts, reading, baking, sharing root beer floats, afternoon naps, playing bingo, Scrabble, and beating everyone at Checkers and 500 Rummy. Kay will be remembered for always having a cheerful disposition which led her to lift others up with her encouragement, jokes, laughter and silly faces.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 2-4:00pm and 6-8:00pm and on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10-10:45am where we leave from and go to the Ice Cemetery for graveside services conducted by Pastor Bill Coon. Susan and Renee, I am so very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I was your mom and dad's neighbor in the duplex two doors down when she lived in Weirton. I remember your mom as so sweet, kind and friendly. Your mom also attended Christ United Methodist Church with me as well. My Deepest Condolences to you both and your family. Prayers😢🙏
