Mary Louise Fletcher of Farmington, WV passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was born May 30, 1928, the oldest daughter of Lionel McDougal and Gladys Lucinda White McDougal and married James “Jimmy” Robert Fletcher Sr. raising one daughter, Betty Jo Barber and 3 sons, Timothy A. Fletcher, James “Bob” R. Fletcher Jr., and John D. Fletcher.

Through the years, she worked at Westinghouse as a relief worker, the Post Office in Rachel and Decorator Industries. She was also a seamstress, poll worker, part of Senior Citizens of Marion County, and Homemakers of America. She loved flowers, birds, nature, going for walks in the woods, mowing the yard, and pulling weeds in the flower bed and anything blue.

She loved her grandchildren (Crystal and Larry, Wayne, Thomas and Mel, Mauria and Brian, Jamie, Tina and Jimmy, Frank and Amber, Jeremy, Becky, and Amber and Denny), her great-grandchildren, (Brittany, Brent, Josh, Vicky and Stetson, Dominick, Harley, Ky, Abigail, Eli, Jensen, Becca, Kayli, Alison (in heaven), Jacob, Genevieve, Evelyn, Mackenzie, and Kayden) and her one great-great-grandchild (Weston). She was also survived by two brothers, James L. McDougal and Richard Dale (Donna) McDougal, sister-in-law Charlotte Coogle.

Mary was also part of the East Run 4-H Club, Model Mile Conservation, and Homemaker’s Club. She was a Christian by Faith, a member of the Mannington Church of Christ and an inspiration to all of her church family. She was in charge of the church clothing giveaway with her friend Virginia Bice for over 50 years. She believed in faith by works! Her forever friend was Nellie Glasscock. In her later years, she cared for her grandson Dominick, her two sons Bob and John, and Bob’s wife Barb with special help by her great-granddaughter Kayli and her friend Max.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband James Fletcher Sr., her sisters Millie Stalnaker, Shirley Miller and Margie Earl, daughter Betty Jo Barber, and her companion Harley Conners.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 1-8:00pm as well as on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 9-11:00am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Evangelist Dr. Michael P. Reese officiating. Interment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice Care.

I have fond memories of Mary from my time at North Marion Senior Center,she was so kind,helpful and pleasant.My sympathy to her family and friends
