Mary Ella Hawkins, 81, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017 at Genesis Salem Nursing Home. She was born on November 18, 1935 to Samuel Clem and Nessie Mae Hawkins in Youngstown, Ohio.
She lived in Youngstown, Warren, Ohio are for many years and then decided to move to Metz, WV. Mary worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital when in Ohio and was a health caregiver when in West Virginia. She never gained much wealth but was a happy person and would do anything for a friend. Mary loved dogs and cats and enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, flea markets, garage sales and county music. Elvis Presley was her favorite singer and she collected much of his merchandise and CDs.
Mary entered Genesis Salem Nursing Home on 2010 and resided there until her death. She leaves behind 2 brothers, Thomas (Eleanor) Hawkins, Donald Hawkins of Youngstown, OH; a sister, Jean Neff of Barberton, OH; and many nieces and nephews in Ohio. Her brothers Robert and Ray Hawkins preceded her in death, as well as a step-sister, Marie Metz and three sisters-in-law, Mickie, Kathy, and Marcella Hawkins.
Relatives and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, WV on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 11:00am – 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1pm with Pastor Larry Watson officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Arnett Cemetery next to her Mom and Dad. The family wishes to Thank Genesis Salem Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care that was given to Mary.
